A GREAT Read

Outdoor Reporter Tyler Wayne Wolden from Fish-On Outdoors had some recent success taking out an out-of-state couple that hasn't spent a great deal of time with a rod in hand. A GREAT read. "Memorial weekend turned into quite an amazing weekend for some newcomers, not just to walleye fishing, but to fishing in general. I had the opportunity to take out a couple from New York City who are fairly new to the sport of fishing. Targeting a lake in the Alexandria area, I had planned on fishing multiple different spots and depths to locate active fish. The first spot we pulled up on, I got everyone ready with a Jig-n-shiner in about 10 FOW with a couple feet of weeds on the bottom. Emeka Anyadike(pictured), on his second cast of the day, pulled in this beautiful 26" walleye. The rest of the day was hit and miss, with some steady action. My recommendation for anyone wanting to get out is to make sure you bring a variety of presentations. Walleyes are in transition now from Jig-n-shiner bite to pulling leeches and crawlers on Lindy rigs or spinners. The same goes for depths. Be sure to cover ground and don't get caught fishing memories. The are fish scattered all over. You just need the find the active ones. Happy June to everyone and Fish-On!!!"
