Bemidji Area Report

Here's the latest Bemidji Area Report from Matthew Breuer of Northcountry Guide Service & Promotions. "Much like the times, the walleye, they are a changing... 10 days ago I had clients reeling in fish in 4-8' of water using jigs and minnows, 8 days ago it was all about crankbaits over shallow sand and cabbage beds. The last week I haven't fished shallower than 19' of water, and have transitioned to bottom bouncers and crawler harnesses. Gold blades seem to be outperforming other colors, but all colors and shapes are catching fish. We've been concentrating on 19-31' of water, just idling until we find long pods of fish, then bouncing through them at 1.2mph. Crappies and bluegills have transitioned to the deep cabbage weeds, and some very nice fish are being caught right now. Simple slip bobber set ups with panfish leeches or worms is all it takes. Great way to get the kids out and on some fish. Bass and muskies are loving this heat, and are getting hotter by the day! Give us a call for some excellent fishing. We've still got some summer openings left! 218-444-6479
